The construction is square with a tiny dome separated into ground and mezzanine floors. In the square-shaped building is a circular wall around 1.5 meters in height.

In the circular space are put the bust of Ambedkar and a statue of Gautam Buddha. The circular wall has two entrances and is adorned with marble flooring.

On the mezzanine floors, there is a Stupa beyond the resting space for Bhikkhus. The main entry gate of the Chaitya Bhoomi is a replica of the Gate of the Stupa of Sanchi. In contrast, inside, an image of Ashoka Pillar is created.

The Chaitya Bhoomi was launched by Meerabai Yashvant Ambedkar, the daughter-in-law of B. R. Ambedkar, on 5 December 1971.

Here, the relics of Ambedkar are enshrined. In 2012, the Central Government headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh authorized the handover of the Indu Mills site to the Maharashtra Government for creating a monument.
