1st Story: Sab Beh Jayenge
Once Emperor Akbar took Birbal with him on hunting. An army contingent and some servants were also with him. Akbar started returning after hunting in a few days. Then seeing a village on the way, the king had a desire to know about it.
He immediately asked Birbal who came with him whether he knew anything about this village. I want to know about this place.
Birbal replied, “Sir, I too do not know anything about this village. I have also come to this village of my state for the first time. If you want to know about this place, I will ask someone and tell you.
Then Birbal’s eyes fell on a man. He called him and asked, “Brother, are you a resident of this village? If yes, then tell me everything about this village. Everything is going well here, right?”
The man was answering Birbal’s questions when his eyes fell on the king. He recognized them. Then he said, Sir, how can anything bad happen here under your rule? Everything is great here.
Then the king asked him, “What is your name?”
The man replied, “My name is Ganga.”
The king again asked, “Father’s name?”
Got the answer, Jamuna.
After hearing this the king asked that then surely your mother’s name must be Saraswati?
He said, “No sir! My mother’s name is Narmada.
Hearing all these things, Birbal laughed and said jokingly, “King, it is not right to move ahead from here now. There are all the rivers here. If you don’t even have a boat, don’t go ahead. To move forward it is necessary to have a boat. Otherwise there will be fear of drowning and if we stay here for too long, everything will be swept away.”
Hearing these words of Birbal, the king also laughed out loud.
That person also went away smiling after hearing Birbal’s joke.

2nd Story: Oont Ki Gardan
King Akbar was greatly impressed by Birbal’s wisdom and wit. Birbal used to solve any problem in a jiffy. One day, pleased with Birbal’s cleverness, Emperor Akbar announced a reward for him.
Much time passed and the king forgot about this announcement. On the other hand, Birbal had been sitting waiting for the reward for a long time. Birbal was confused as to how to remind Emperor Akbar about the reward.
One evening, Emperor Akbar was enjoying a walk on the banks of river Yamuna when he saw a camel roaming there. Seeing the neck of the camel, the king asked Birbal, “Birbal, do you know why the neck of a camel is bent?”
As soon as Birbal heard Emperor Akbar’s question, he got the opportunity to remind him about the reward. Birbal quickly replied, “Maharaja, actually this camel had forgotten his promise to someone, since then its neck has been like this. Birbal further said, “People believe that whoever forgets the promise he has made, his neck gets bent like this.”
The king was surprised to hear Birbal’s words and remembered his promise to Birbal. He asked Birbal to hurry to the palace. As soon as he reached the palace, King Akbar rewarded Birbal and asked him, “My neck will not become like that of a camel, will it?” Birbal smiled and replied, “No, Maharaj.” Hearing this, both the king and Birbal burst out laughing.
In this way, without angering Emperor Akbar, Birbal reminded him of his promise and took his reward.

3rd Story: Agra Kaun Sa Rasta Jata Hai
Emperor Akbar loved hunting. Once upon a time, Emperor Akbar went out hunting with his soldiers. While hunting, he went so far that he got lost from his group. Only a few soldiers were left with him. Now it was almost evening and the sun was about to set. At the same time, Akbar and his accompanying soldiers were also suffering from hunger.
After traveling a long distance, Emperor Akbar realized that he had lost his way. There was no one visible nearby from whom one could ask about the route. After walking a little further, they saw a crossroads. The king was a little happy to see that at least one of these routes would lead to the capital.
But, everyone was confused as to which path to take. Then the soldiers noticed a small boy standing on the roadside. The boy was looking at the Maharaja’s horse and the weapons of the soldiers with great surprise. The soldiers caught that child and presented him before the Maharaja.
Emperor Akbar asked the boy, “O boy. Which of these roads goes to Agra?” Hearing this the child started laughing loudly. Seeing this the king got very angry. But, he calmly asked him the reason for his laughter. The boy replied, “If this path cannot be followed, then how will it go to Agra.” To reach Agra you will have to walk yourself.”
The king was astonished to see the wisdom of that boy. He was happy and asked the name of that child. The boy replied that his name was Mahesh Das. The king rewarded him with a gold ring and invited him to come to the court. After this, Emperor Akbar asked the boy, “Can you tell me by which path I will be able to reach Agra?” The boy very politely told the right path and the Maharaj proceeded towards Agra with his soldiers.
This boy grew up and became famous by the name of Birbal and was called one of the Navratnas of Emperor Akbar.
Moral of the Story: From this story we learn that knowledge and understanding should be respected.
4th Story: Buddhi Se Bhara Bartan
Once upon a time, there was some rift between King Akbar and his beloved Birbal. Due to this the king punished Birbal to go away from the kingdom. Even in this situation, Birbal did not give up and he went to another village and started farming in disguise. Now he started living his life as a farmer.
In the beginning everything was normal for King Akbar, but only a few days passed when the king started realizing his mistake. He started remembering Birbal in his daily routine. Whenever he faced any difficult problem, he missed Birbal a lot.
One day King Akbar could no longer control himself. He called his commander and ordered him to find Birbal. As per the king’s orders, a search for Birbal was started in every village and every street. All the soldiers searched every corner, but they could not find Birbal.
When the king came to know about this, he was very disappointed. Now his anxiety to meet Birbal started increasing. Suddenly an idea came to the king’s mind. He ordered that a message be sent to all the village heads that all of them would have to put their intelligence inside a vessel and send it to the king. Whoever does not fulfill this order will have to send a vessel filled with diamonds and gems to the king instead.
All the villagers were upset after hearing this strange order of the king. Everyone was puzzled wondering how to put wisdom into a vessel. Wisdom was available to everyone, but everyone was in trouble thinking how to put it into a vessel. Unable to do so, they had to fill the same vessel with precious diamonds and jewellery, which was an even bigger problem.
At the same time, this order of the king had become a topic of discussion in the village where Birbal was living in the guise of an ordinary farmer. All the elders of the village were sitting disappointed when Birbal came there and said that he could find a solution to this problem. At first no one believed this, but they had no other way but to believe Birbal. Therefore the reins of this work were handed over to Birbal.
At that time it was time to grow watermelon crop in the village. Birbal put a vine of the watermelon plant in a pot. Gradually, watermelon fruit started growing on that vine and with time the watermelon took the shape of a vessel. As soon as the vessel was completely filled with watermelon, Birbal separated the vine from the fruit and sent the vessel along with the watermelon to the king’s court. Also send a message that there is wisdom inside that vessel and the king will have to take out the wisdom without breaking the vessel.
As soon as the king saw the vessel full of watermelon and heard the condition for taking it out, he became convinced that only Birbal could have such an idea. He quickly got his horse and set out towards the village to bring Birbal back with him.

5th Story: The Golden Farm
There were many precious decorative items in Akbar’s palace, but Akbar had a special fondness for one bouquet. Akbar always kept this bouquet near his bed. One day suddenly, while cleaning the room of Maharaj Akbar, his servant broke the bouquet. The servant got nervous and tried hard to tie the bouquet, but failed. Defeated, he threw the broken bouquet in the dustbin and prayed that the king should not know anything about it.
After some time, when Maharaj Akbar returned to the palace, he saw that his favorite bouquet was not at its place. When the king asked the servant about that bouquet, the servant started trembling with fear. The servant hurriedly couldn’t think of a good excuse, so he said, “Maharaj, I have taken that vase to my home so that I can clean it properly.” On hearing this, Akbar said, “Bring me that bouquet immediately.”
Now the servant had no way of escape. The servant told the truth to Maharaj Akbar that the bouquet was broken. Hearing this the king became furious. In anger, the king sentenced that servant to death. The king said, “I do not tolerate lies. When the bouquet was already broken, what was the need to lie”.
Next day, when this incident was mentioned in the meeting, Birbal protested against it. Birbal said that every person tells lies sometimes. If nothing bad or wrong happens when someone lies, then lying is not wrong. Hearing such words from Birbal’s mouth, Akbar immediately got angry at Birbal. He asked the people in the meeting whether there is anyone here who has lied. Everyone told the king that no, he does not lie. On hearing this, the king expelled Birbal from the kingdom.
After leaving the royal court, Birbal decided that he would prove that every person lies at some point in his life. An idea came to Birbal’s mind, after which Birbal went straight to the goldsmith. He got a gold earring made from a jeweler that looked like wheat and took it to Maharaj Akbar’s court.
As soon as Akbar saw Birbal in the meeting, he asked why he had come here now. Birbal said, “Today such a miracle will happen at Jahanpanah, which no one has ever seen. You just have to listen to me completely.” The curiosity of King Akbar and all the chairmen increased and the king allowed Birbal to express his views.
Birbal said, “Today I saw a perfect man on the way. He gave me this wheat earring made of gold and said that whichever field you plant it in, a gold crop will grow there. Now I need some land in your kingdom to plant it.” The king said, “This is a very good thing, let us get you the land.” Now Birbal said that I want the entire royal court to see this miracle. Following Birbal’s advice, the entire royal court headed towards the fields.
“After reaching the field, Birbal said that this ear of wheat made of gold will yield a crop only if it is planted by a person who has never lied in his life. Hearing Birbal’s words, all the royals became silent and no one was ready to plant the wheat ear.
King Akbar asked, is there no person in the royal court who has never lied in his life? Everyone was silent. Birbal said, “Jahanpanah, now you yourself plant this earring in the field.” Hearing Birbal’s words, Maharaj bowed his head. He said, “I have also told many lies in my childhood, so how can I tell this.” As soon as he said this, Emperor Akbar understood that Birbal was right that everyone in this world lies sometimes. As soon as Akbar realizes this, he stops the death sentence of that servant.
Moral of the Story: One should not give major punishment to anyone without thinking. Every work should be done only after thinking. Also, a person should not be judged because of a small lie, because there are some circumstances when people lie.
6th Story: Birbal Ki Yogyata
Birbal was dominant in the court of Emperor Akbar. Birbal’s cleverness and understanding had made him special to the king. For this reason many people in the court were jealous of Birbal. Emperor Akbar’s brother-in-law was also among these people. Saale Saheb never left any opportunity to humiliate Birbal, but every time he had to face defeat. Being the brother of the Begum, even the king did not say anything to him.
One day, in Birbal’s absence, Saale Saheb demanded the post of Diwan from Emperor Akbar. The king thought of testing the brother-in-law. He told his brother-in-law, “Early in the morning today I heard the sound of kittens behind the palace. It seems that a cat has given birth to babies, go and see if this is true or not.”
The brother-in-law quickly went behind the palace and came back and said, “What you said is true, a cat has given birth to babies behind the palace.”
The king said, “Okay, please tell me how many babies the cat has given birth to?” The brother-in-law replied, “I don’t know this, I will find out soon, Maharaj.”
Saying this, he again went behind the palace and came back and said, “Your Majesty, the cat has become the mother of five children.”
Emperor Akbar asked, “Okay, please tell me how many of those five children are female and how many are male?” The brother-in-law replied, “I have not seen this, I will come back after seeing it.” Saying this, he again goes behind the palace and after some time comes back and says, “Your Majesty, out of the five kittens, three are male and two are female.”
Emperor Akbar again asked a question to his brother-in-law, “What color are the male kittens? In response to the question, the brother-in-law said, “I will check and come right away.” Emperor Akbar said, “Leave it, sit down.”
By this time Birbal had reached the royal court. The king said to Birbal, “Birbal, the cat has given birth to babies behind the palace, just see if this is true. Birbal said, “I will check right away and come back, Maharaj.” Saying this he went to look behind the palace.
On returning, Birbal told Emperor Akbar, “Your Majesty, the cat has given birth to babies.”
The king asked Birbal, “How many children has the cat given birth to?” Birbal immediately replied, “Maharaj, of five children.”
The king again asked, “How many of the kittens are female and how many are male?” Birbal immediately replied, “Your Majesty, three males and two females.”
Emperor Akbar once again asked Birbal, “What color are the male kittens?” Birbal immediately replied, “Your Majesty, the color of two male children is black and that of one is brown.”
Now Maharaj looked at his brother-in-law sitting nearby and asked, “What do you have to say about this?” The brother-in-law sat with his head bowed in embarrassment and could not say anything.
Moral of the Story: From this story we learn that we should not be jealous of someone’s success.
