1st Story: Mulla Nasruddin Aur Khushboo Ki Kimat

Years ago, a beggar was asking for something to eat in Nanda Nagri because he was suffering from hunger. Just then a person gives him some rotis. Now the beggar reaches a nearby pandal in search of vegetables for bread. There the beggar asks for some vegetables from the pandal owner for bread. On seeing the beggar, the owner of the pandal gets angry and drives him away.

The unhappy beggar somehow escapes from the owner’s sight and reaches the kitchen of the pandal. There he sees many types of delicious vegetables. Steam was coming out from the hot vegetables.

Seeing the steam, it occurred to the beggar that if the rotis are kept over this steam, the aroma of the vegetable will be added to them. Then the taste of vegetables will start appearing in the roti also and there will be no need of vegetables. Thinking all this, instead of putting vegetables on the rotis, the beggar places them on the steam coming out of the vegetables.

Then suddenly the pandal owner comes there and catches the beggar for stealing vegetables. The beggar tells him that he has not stolen the vegetable. I was just smelling the vegetable. The owner threatens the beggar and says that if you have only taken the fragrance, you will have to pay for that fragrance also.

In a frightened voice the beggar says to him, “Master, I have nothing with which I can pay the price of the fragrance.” Then the pandal owner catches him and takes him to the court of Mulla Nasruddin.

Mulla Nasruddin listens carefully to the words of the pandal owner and the beggar. After listening to both of them, Mulla thinks for some time and tells the pandal owner that he wants money in exchange for the fragrance of his vegetables. Pandal Malika says, yes.

Then the Mullah says to the pandal owner, “Okay, I will myself pay for the fragrance of your vegetable.” The pandal owner becomes happy after hearing this. Then Mulla Nasruddin tells him, “Look, I will pay the price of the fragrance of your vegetable with the tinkling of coins.” Saying this, Mulla takes out some coins from his pocket and starts tinkling them in both his hands. Then put those coins in the pocket again.

The pandal owner is surprised to see all this. He tells Mulla Nasruddin what kind of price he has paid. In reply Mulla says, “The fragrance of your vegetable was taken by this beggar. That is why I have told you the tinkling of coins. If this beggar had taken vegetables, you would have definitely got some coins.”

Hearing Mullah’s answer, the pandal owner walks away from there with his eyes closed. The beggar also goes on his way happily.

2nd Story: Elephant And Goat

There lived an elephant and a goat in a forest. Both were very close friends. Both of them used to search for food together every day and eat it together. One day both of them went far away from their forest in search of food. There he saw a pond. There was a plum tree on the bank of the same pond.

The elephant and the goat were very happy to see the plum tree. Both of them went near the plum tree, then the elephant shook the plum tree vigorously with its trunk and a lot of ripe plums started falling on the ground. The goat quickly started collecting the fallen berries.

Coincidentally, there was a bird’s nest on the same plum tree, in which a baby bird was sleeping and the bird had gone somewhere in search of grain. Due to strong shaking of the plum tree, the baby bird fell out of the nest into the pond and started drowning.

Seeing the baby bird drowning, the goat jumped into the pond to save it, but the goat did not know how to swim. Because of this she also started drowning in the pond.

Seeing the goat drowning, the elephant also jumped into the pond and saved both the baby bird and the goat from drowning.

Meanwhile, the bird had also come there and she was very happy to see her child safe and sound. He asked the elephant and goat to live near this pond and plum tree. From then on, elephants and goats also started living under that plum tree along with the birds.

Within a few days the baby bird grew up. The bird used to roam in the forest with her child and used to inform the elephant and goat about which trees in the forest bore fruits. In this way elephants, goats, and birds lived and ate and drank happily.

Learning from the story: We should not harm anyone. If our mistake causes trouble to someone, then that mistake should be rectified and we should help each other by removing the rift.

3rd Bachchon Ki Kahani in English: Magical Pot

He thinks every day how to improve the situation at home. Even today, with the same thoughts, Kishan set out early in the morning to work on the landlord’s farm.

While digging, his spade hit some metal and made a loud noise. It occurred to Kishan that what is happening here? He immediately dug that part and found a big vessel from there. Kishan became sad after seeing the vessel.

Kishan thought that if he had these jewellery, the condition of his house would have improved a bit. Then Kishan thought, let me eat now. To eat, Kishan threw the spade in his hand into the pot and started eating after washing his hands and face. After finishing the meal, Kishan went near the pot to pick up his spade.

Kishan was surprised as soon as he reached there. There was not one but many spades inside that pot. He did not understand anything. Then he also threw a basket he was keeping in that pot. As soon as that one basket went inside the pot, it became many. Seeing all this, Kishan became happy and brought that magical pot home with him.

Every day he would put some of his tools in that vessel and when they became too many, he would go to the market and sell them. By doing this the condition of Kishan’s house started improving. He earned a lot of money in this way and also got his father treated. One day Kishan bought some jewelery and put it in the pot. A lot of those ornaments were also made. In this way Kishan gradually started becoming rich and he also stopped working as a laborer for the landlord.

Seeing Kishan becoming rich, landlord Mohan became suspicious of Kishan. He reached Kishan’s house directly. Going there he came to know about the magical pot. He asked Kishan, “When and from whose house did you steal this pot?”

Kishan said in a scared voice, “Sir! I found this vessel while digging in the field. I have not stolen from anyone’s house.”

As soon as the landowner heard about the digging in the field, he said, “When this vessel was found in my field, it became mine.” Kishan pleaded a lot not to take the magical pot, but landlord Mohan did not listen to him. He forcefully took the magical pot with him.

Like Kishan, the landlord also started expanding them by adding items to them. One day the landlord put all the jewels in his house one by one in that pot and became very rich overnight.

Suddenly the news of the landlord becoming rich reached the king of Brass City. On investigation, the king also got information about the magical pot. What happened next, the king immediately sent his people and got that pot for the palace from the landlord.

As soon as that magical vessel reached the royal palace, the king started putting the things around him in it. The king was stunned to see the goods increasing. Eventually the king himself went inside the vessel. Within no time many kings emerged from that vessel.

Every king who emerged from the pot would say, “I am the real king of Brass City, you have been created by this magical pot.” As this happened, all the kings started fighting among themselves and died fighting. That magical pot also broke during the fight.

Everyone in the city came to know about this terrible fight that took place in the royal palace because of the magical pot. As soon as they got information about this, laborer Kishan and landlord Mohan thought that it was good that we used that magical pot properly. That king lost his life because of his foolishness.
