This increases Ernest’s desire to learn more about the man. Part one of the story follows his journey to find the great stone face. Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote the story “The Great Stone Face”. It centers on a man and his fascination with a mountainside. Ernest, a young boy, lives with his mother in the valley.
