Bakri Aur Bhediya Ki Kahani in English

Years ago, there lived an old goat named Dumpy in a forest, who had seven kids. The goat went out every day and brought food for the children. There also lived a wolf in the same forest, whose eyes were on the goat kids.

The goat also knew about this, so she kept telling ways to protect her children from wild animals. The goat always said that the wolf is very clever and his voice is heavy and his feet are black. If you see anyone like this in the forest, save yourself.

One day the goat had to go far to get food. She called all her children and explained to them that they should not open the door of the house until she returned. All the children said that they would take care of themselves and sent their mother off happily.

Shortly after the goat left, the wolf arrived there and started knocking on the door. The goat kids asked together who was there. Then the wolf said, children, I am your mother. In response the children said that our mother’s voice is not so heavy, you are a wolf and have come to eat us.

Then the wolf started thinking that the children would not be captured so easily. He knew that tasting honey improves the voice. He quickly found a beehive around the forest and ate the honey. Then he was stung by bees. He controlled himself and reached the goat’s house again. The wolf again knocked on the door and asked the children to open the door.

This time, after hearing the sweet voice, the children thought that perhaps their mother had come. Then he saw the black legs of the wolf. All the children shouted that you cannot be our mother. Our mother’s feet are white, but yours are black. You are a wolf. Now again the wolf returned empty handed.

While returning, he saw a flour mill on the way and he quickly applied the flour scattered on the ground to his feet. Now the wolf’s feet also turned white and he again reached the goat’s house. Then the wolf changed his voice and asked to open the door. This time her voice was like her mother’s and her feet were also white. Seeing all this, everyone moved forward to open the door. Then the youngest kid of the goat said, this is not the mother, but no one listened to him and opened the door.

As soon as they opened the door, they saw that there was not mother at the door, but a wolf. Everyone started running here and there to escape from him, but the wolf caught six children one by one and put them in a bag. In his haste the wolf forgot that the goat had seven kids. Now the wolf started going towards his cave with a bag full of goat kids.

After some time, the old goat Dumpy reached her house and was scared to see everything scattered there. Then a child hidden in his house came out and told the whole story. Hearing the whole story, the goat got angry and went towards the wolf’s cave to teach him a lesson.

On the other hand, the wolf carrying the children got tired of walking and sat down to rest under a tree on the way. He fell asleep while sitting. Just then the old goat Dumpy also reached there. He saw the wolf sleeping and secretly opened the bag full of his children and took them all out. Then Dumpy quickly filled the bag with stones with the help of the children and everyone hid in the nearby bushes.

After some time, the wolf got up and started walking towards the cave with the bag. He found the bag a little heavy this time, but he did not pay attention to it. While walking, he found a river, which he had to cross to reach his cave. As soon as he went into the river with a bag full of stones, he started drowning in the river. Seeing this, the goat and its kids went home happily.
