How to reach Kedarnath from Mumbai

There are three ways to reach Kedarnath Temple. Which is Haridwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun. Kedarnath is 247 km from Haridwar. And Kedarnath is 256 km from Dehradun. But Kedarnath is only 105 km away from Rishikesh.

By Air: If you want to come by flight then you have to come to Dehradun airport. Almost all the planes of India come here. After this you will have to do the rest of the journey by bus or taxi.

By Train: There are 3 railway stations to reach Kedarnath. In which the first is Haridwar, the second is Dehradun and the third is Rishikesh railway station. Haridwar Railway Station is a very big station. All major trains of India come here. But only local train comes at Rishikesh railway station.

After coming to one of these railway stations, you can reach Kedarnath temple by bus or taxi only. Bus fare is much less than taxi fare. If you are coming by your private vehicle then you can reach Sonprayag. After this you will have to hire another public taxi to Gaurikund. You can easily park your private vehicle at Sonprayag at a cost of ₹50 per day.

How to reach Kedarnath from Mumbai?

If you want to reach Kedarnath from Mumbai then the best medium is train. The distance from Mumbai to Kedarnath is 1867 km. If you want to come by bus it will take much longer. And airfare can be expensive.

By Train: There are several railway stations in Mumbai. From where you can come to Haridwar or Dehradun railway station. Then from here the rest of your journey will have to be done by bus or taxi.

By Flight: If you want to reach Kedarnath by flight, then you will have to come to Dehradun Airport from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal. After this you will have to do the rest of the journey by bus or taxi. You can reach Kedarnath quickly by flight. But its rent is a bit expensive.

By Bus: Bus facility from Mumbai is not good. So I would not recommend you to go by bus. If you want, you can go by private vehicle. But later you can take your vehicle to Sonprayag itself. After this you will have to use local taxi only.

The easiest way to reach Kedarnath Temple is from Haridwar. The distance from Haridwar to Kedarnath is 247 kms. From here you can reach Kedarnath temple in 8 hours by bus or taxi. The bus will first take you to Sonprayag. Bus fare to Sonprayag is Rs.350. You should buy your bus tickets from Haridwar or Rishikesh a day in advance. You can easily buy your ticket from the bus counter at the bus stop.

Sonprayag is the nearest city to Kedarnath Temple. All buses and taxis come here and this is the final stop for all vehicles. After this you have to take another local taxi from Sonprayag to Gaurikund with a fare of Rs 30. It is at a distance of 5 km. You can also reach Kedarnath from Sonprayag, you can also take a horse ride by paying a fare of Rs 2500 for one way.

From here you can go to Kedarnath temple by riding a horse or basket, or you can also reach by trekking on foot. You can pay INR 2300 for horse ride and INR 5000 for basket ride. You can also book a ride to Gaurikund. If you want to reach Kedarnath on foot, then you will have to travel 15.8 kilometers by trekking.

How to reach Kedarnath from Dehradun?

The distance from Dehradun to Kedarnath is 265 km. From here you can easily reach Sonprayag by bus or taxi. You may have to change the bus twice. It may take 7 hours to reach Sonprayag. Sonprayag is 5 kms from Gaurikund, you can use horse or cart. After a 15 kilometer walk, you can reach Kedarnath Temple.
