Lalchi Kutta Kahani in English
There lived a greedy dog in a village. He used to roam around the village in search of food. He was so greedy that whatever he gotta eat, he felt it was less.
Earlier he had good friendship with other dogs of the village, but because of this habit of his, everyone started staying away from him, but he did not care, he was only concerned with his food. Someone or the other would give him something to eat while passing by. Whatever he got to eat, he would gobble it up alone.
One day he found a bone from somewhere. There was no limit to his happiness after seeing the bone. He thought that he should enjoy it alone. Thinking this he started going from the village towards the forest.
On the way, he was crossing the river over the bridge, when his eyes fell on the stagnant water of the river below. At that time there was only greed in his eyes. He did not even realize that his own face was visible in the river water.
He felt that there was a dog below too, who had another bone. He thought why not snatch his bone also, then I would have two bones. Then I will be able to eat two bones at once with pleasure. Thinking this, as soon as he jumped into the water, the bone from his mouth fell straight into the river.
As soon as the bone fell out of its mouth and fell into the water, the dog came to its senses and regretted its actions.
Moral of the Lalchi Kutta Kahani: From this story we learn that we should never be greedy. Being greedy only harms us.
