Mumbai rains: IMD predicts thundershowers to continue till oct 20

Mumbai Rains update for October 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said the south-west monsoon has withdrawn from Nandurbar, Dhule and Jalgaon districts in north-central Maharashtra.

Due to heavy rains in Mumbai as many as eight flights were diverted at the city’s airport on Friday due to heavy rains and low visibility conditions. Due to heavy rain in Mumbai Traffic Jam on Ghodbunder Road due movement of Heavy Vehicles and bad road conditions. Concern authorities need to look in this. STOP heavy vehicles during office hrs.

IMD stressed ” Southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh & Gujarat; most parts of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh & Maharashtra. The withdrawal line of Southwest Monsoon now passes through Raxaul, Daltonganj, Pendra Road, Chhindwara, Jalgaon, Dahanu, Long. 71.0⁰E/Lat. 19.5⁰N. Conditions are very likely to become favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from remaining parts of Central India; some more parts of Maharashtra & East India and some parts of Northeast India during next 3 days”

IMD issued an notification on 14 October and said “Isolated Heavy rainfall spell likely to continue over south Peninsular India during next 5 days”

If we take closer look at this notification the withdrawal of monsoon will be expected till 20th October.
